Is it still a Rhinebeck Sweater?

Is a Rhinebeck sweater completed in March (5 months after Rhinebeck) still a Rhinebeck sweater?

This year, I fell in love with Andrea Mowry’s Framed sweater. It’s a beautiful design paying homage to traditional handcrafts. I drooled over the kits and colors chosen by both Spincycle Yarns and The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers. A project like this can be intimidating with extensive colorwork and high-quality yarn, so I spent a fair amount of time pining over the wool before making a purchase.

To be clear, I did not attend Rhinebeck, but that sweater still sang to me, so when people asked about Christmas wishes, the yarn for this sweater was at the top of the list!!! I started working on it in early January 2025 and finished by March 2, 2025. After blocking, I didn’t like the fabric of the sleeves—no fault of the designer! I should have checked my gauge for the sleeves instead of speedily knitting away to the finished sweater. I went up one needle size, thinking it might help prevent a tighter finished sleeve. I was wrong, especially about not checking my gauge early on in the first sleeve. I went on and finished BOTH sleeves AND blocked the sweater before realizing that I needed to frog the sleeves and knit them again if I wanted to love my finished sweater.

Now my Framed sweater is done. Just in time for the Florida warm-up… but it’s still a Rhinebeck sweater!
