Intimidated by Kitchener Stitch?

Sure, the first several times I needed to Kitchener (or graft) a toe to finish off a pair of socks, I did (100%) have to look it up on YouTube. I even saved a screenshot of a knitting keychain that had the Kitchener Stitch “mantra” on it so I could make a quick reference. This technique of closing a toe is so perfect, yet it holds people back from knitting cuff-down socks every darned day. Why?

Is it because you have to sew through the stitches? Is it fussy to sew together small areas of a sock? I suppose so. I know there are knitters who have figured out how they like to knit and how they don’t like to knit, and I am NOT here to judge. I just don’t think you should limit yourself because someone told you Kitchener Stitch is hard, or that you should avoid it, or because the first time you tried it didn’t work out. I am here (and I am NOT the only one) to help you simplify this thing!

Check out my newest video on YouTube, demonstrating how to graft a sock toe using the Kitchener Stitch.
